The wilderness of America. And also if he stayed in germany they are in grave danger. Because the duke's cavalry have come into their town and shut the church doors. But still the people wanted to go so the church members will meet in secret. But if they got found they will get arrested. So it is more safe if he moves to America. People were excited of the plan of the new colony called ''Holy Experiment". All different religious people can join. It was the only place in the world that had a new freedom. For all people to worship. When Johann heard about this new colony he thought America sounded wonderful.
How did he feel about the decision later?:
He was really happy to stay at America. Every day seemed like a adventure for him. He thought nothing was more amazing than Philadelphia. It was filled with lot's of wonderful things. He just enjoys America so much. He likes the things there the people there and everything else. He had a totally different living in there. His favorite time was Market day. Usually the whole family could ride on a wagon to Philadelphia.
